We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

Hi Tangerineduel, hope you get to read this cos I am now stuck!

The template you have applied to my pages on the whole is appreciated as are the minor edits you've done however, as there wasn't previously a template to use could we clarify a few points before I decide to carry on?

1. You've taken out the brackets (refering to related wiki topics) after the article and replaced them with in-title references. Can I ask that it reverts back. The reason I chose to do it the way I did was because, as you will see on my way to issue 383, the article title doesn't always reflect the content of the article. It only really applied to the early issues aimed at younger readers.
2. Would it be ok to remove the `to be added' line where none appeared in that particular issue or would you prefer I put `none` to leaving it blank as there is nothing to be added. I would be unhappy with removing the content category as it gives a continuity to the overall pages?
3. If I continue to use your template it does not include 'credits' for issue production which are revealed more with later issues. I feel these should be included as an acknowledgement of other peoples work (many of who are now key figures in shaping and determining the type of Doctor Who we get to share).
4. Could the infobox be reduced slightly in width as this would increase the definition of the cover image, and not encrouch as much across the main contents, which like everything else become longer and more detailed with later issues?
5. I don't want to mess with site convention but am curious as to how existing pages (often stubs)can be expanded to include additional information that may not however appear in the template used for the article. If such information can be included throughout a section, does it need approval first, and from who if a template is to be expanded?

Hi...

1. It would perhaps be better for in those cases to have a | and still keep the text of the article ie: Dalek amd Mutants from the planet Skaro, they both link to the same page, but different text. Or if this doesn't suit perhaps in brackets a small explanation of what the article is about. (Also on a side note I removed the brackets mainly because it was a slightly messy way of displaying the information and looked slightly out of place.)
2. none would probably be best (I'm totally behind having continuity between pages...) so none would be good, so that future contributors know that there is definitely nothing in these headings.
3. Feel free to use the page layout you've implemented (the only things I ask you add is the ==External Links== at the end and [[Category:Doctor Who Magazine Issues]] also at the very bottom of the page (rather than your categories, just as this one keeps everything separate). So there could obviously be a Credits section of the page after the Contents or wherever you want, as I said when I went through and edited I kept all your headings etc.
4. How the page is displayed is some what dependant on the screen resolution and layout of the user viewing the page, however the image as displayed sits at 250px, (a lower number a smaller picture), the infobox is however the same width as your original infobox.
5. As for other articles just add a heading or whatever, there isn't any approval process. There are various articles spread throughout the Manual of Style and help pages which act as a guide to various topics. But in general if there's enough information (especially stub articles) then just add it, the exception is the TV, Book, CD and Anthology pages which have a very established page layout and it's generally best to stick to those. A rule of thumb is to look at similar pages around it as an idea.

Re Message

Hi, sorry, I was trying to clean up my talk page and accidently deleted content from the welcome template. Can you please re-edit it to recover it 'cos as a newbie I appreciated it and now feel guilty. PS where do I find out how to remove it from my talk page? To go back through your page's history (like all pages) just click the History link at the top of the page. Also you can just highlight it all and delete it (removing all content from your page).

Also, just another side note on formating, generally speaking the headings should be two = (==) rather than the one which you used in the the reformating of the X Doctor Comic Strip Stories. The single = sign results in overly large headings. (You can add further headings within them by just adding my = signs either side and it will continue to add up in the contents.)

When creating pages (sorry to be lecturing) check that a page doesn't already exist, for example abbreviations used in referencing Doctor Who Comic Strip Stories, should really be covered (and is already partially covered) in Tardis:List of prefixes rather than a page of its own. (I will be altering and transfering the pages). This is both to assist in future page creations and keeping the information in an easy to access area.

Also (while not nesscary...as others will inevitably place it in) categories at the base of pages is a good idea as it will help others when working on your pages. (Generally looking at other pages similar to your page you're creating will help).

This also goes for formating and other things, take a look at some of the pages that have a lot of edits, or even some of the CD or novel pages which are generally all laid out in a similar fashion to one another for ease of reading, or the TV stories (most of which have been fixed...some still aren't onto the full Manual of Style)...but the formatting is still there for the most part.

The abbreviations

Just having a look through your abbreviations, some of them are going to need to change, just since the DW at the start would only confuse, as DW is the prefix for TV stories.

Currently on the Tardis:List of prefixes there are:

While I'm on my formating spiel, when reading large chunks of information, bullet points (first at least) makes for an easier read, after the bullet points it can be simple indentation (or indented bullet points), it just makes for an easier to read article.

Actually...reading through the X Doctor comic strip stories pages, there doesn't need to be a note (especially not a whole section) on the prefixes. As any article with a prefix should be clickable and take you to the prefix's article ie DWM. Just thought I'd explain my reasons for removing it from the X doctor comic strip pages (as it doesn't deliver any information pertinent to the page. --Tangerineduel 13:25, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
