"Only hate keeps me alive! Why else should I endure this pain? "
The Doctor returns to Gallifrey for the first time in centuries and finds the planet in the grips of dark conspiracies. The President of the High Council of the Time Lords is about to name his successor when he is assassinated by a shadowy figure. All evidence points to the Doctor, who is arrested and sentenced to death. But the Doctor knows who is really behind the murder and sets out to prove his innocence by running for President! Can the skeleton creature lurking in the catacombs really be the Master? What is the Matrix? Is the Doctor’s TARDIS really an antique? And is the end of Gallifrey and the Time Lords?
