"Don’t you understand? The regeneration is failing! "
While the Doctor recovers in the TARDIS Zero room from his regeneration, the Master kidnaps Adric and sends the ship back through time to the beginning of the Universe! The Doctor is forced to jettison a quarter of the ship to provide the energy to escape, and the time machine materialises near Castrovalva, a town reknown for its tranquil and recouperative atmosphere. The Doctor slowly recovers but the Master is hiding there … Once the town starts collapsing in on itself, it’s clear that the terrible Time Lord means to destroy the Doctor once and for all!

Notable Information

  • All of the Hath's dialogue was scripted, even though viewers couldn’t understand it. It is believed that, when in water, the Hath communicate via bubbles.
  • Buses have featured in the following television stories; The Chase, Terror of the Autons, Delta and the Bannermen, The Greatest Show in the Galaxy and Planet of the Dead.
  • The Enemy of the World was the only story in the fifth season not to feature a monster. It also saw Patrick Troughton's son David feature as an extra.
  • Castravalva's design borrowed from the drawings of the artist MC Escher based on a village in the Abruzzo region of Italy in 1930.
  • The first recorded telescopes were created by Dutch-German lensmaker Hans Lippershey in 1608.
