Sean "Bernie" Harris was a 19 year old petty thief from Splott.

Biography

Harris got thrown out of his house and bought a flat on Evelyn Street. He got his nickname Bernie at the age of 12 when he burned down his neighbour's shed with cigarette. Harris was unpopular in his local area with many of the reisdents holding a grudge against him for some past wrong. Even his own mum wouldn't allow him home until he gave her the fifty pounds he owed.

At some point Harris stole a quantum transducer and started to see things that had happened. He thought about selling it at Antiques Roadshow. With it he was a woman placing her dead baby into a waterway. He visited her and she gave him money not to tell anyone. Using it again, he saw the murder of Lizzie Lewis and tried to blackmail Ed Morgan, her killer. He refused to give him anything.

There was a second half of the transducer that Harris only ever used once. The time when he did use it, he saw himself dead on the road outside his house, still young and covered in blood. He identified this as the future and decided never to use that half again.

Torchwood Three detected the transducer and sent Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper and Jack Harkness to capture him. Gwen managed to snatch his hoodie from him, but Harris escaped. While passing through Splott at a later date, Owen saw Bernie and pursued him. After a drawn out chase in which they jumped into the gardens of several residents, Owen caught him.

They went to a pub together and Harris told Owen and the rest of the Torchwood team how he had come to own the piece. So as to stop them leaving, he told them he had the second half. They then went to Harris' flat and he gave them the second piece. They also took a tin he had stolen from the same man, containing alien money and rocks.

Harris told Gwen about how he saw his death and she later told Jack. So as to boost his confidence, Gwen visited him again and told him how it was only one of many possible futures. Harris went outside after this to confront Morgan, who was threatening to kill him. Scared, Harris told him he would keep his secret and the Torchwood team managed to disarm Morgan, saving Harris' life. (TW: Ghost Machine)
