The Pharos Institute was a scientific organization that was experimenting with telekinesis. Specifically, it investigated the potential of the MITRE headset to amplify telekinetic energy with explosive results.

The technology behind the MITRE headset may well have originated off-world.

An arrogant boy genius, Nathan Goss, helped them a lot in their research. In fact, Nathan was Korst Gogg Thek Lutiven-Day Slitheen of the family Slitheen.

An "original" of Nathan Goss may or may not have existed.

Sarah Jane Smith broke in and stole a headset for Mr Smith to examine. After she set off the alarms, a motorbike came out of the institute to chase Sarah Jane. The bike was destroyed with the aid of her Sonic lipstick.

Korst and two other Slitheen later came back to the institute, with Luke Smith as hostage. He was wired in, and his telekinetic power nearly brought down The Moon crashing onto the planet Earth. This was averted later by the formerly evil Mr Smith, who Sarah Jane had convinced to serve humanity. (SJA: The Lost Boy)
