(DW: The Ice Warriors) One Neanderthal was preserved by Light. (DW: Ghost Light) The Dæmons visited Earth, and according to the Third Doctor, inspired cave paintings of powerful supernatural beings, They favored humans over Neanderthals, causing the latter to die out.
