Violation of video policy
Hi :) You've made some crackin' good edits lately, so I hate to have to lower the boom on you — especially in your very first talk page message. However, I gotta do it, because you've unwittingly offended one of the most serious policies we have in place. See, we have a very strict video policy. If we didn't, people would be uploaded whole episodes of DW to our wiki, and we just can't have that kinda blatant copyright violation.
Your recent upload of Video:An Unearthly Child Episode was wrong in two regards. In the first place, it was region locked video, which is not allowed. In the second, it did not appear to come from the BBC directly. We simply cannot allow any video which has not been clearly, officially released by the BBC or the appropriate copyright holders.
Breaking this policy means you'll face some of the harshest penalties on our wiki. I'm entitled to block you right now, for your first offense. However, I'm not going to. It seems like a perfectly innocent mistake to me. Future violations of this policy, however, wil be met with no less than a six month ban.
Again, it is not our usual policy to be quite so harsh with blocking, but we absolutely cannot be a host for videos not released by the BBC. I hope that you understand — and that you'll keep on making some truly positive contributions to our wiki. 05:14: Sat 24 Sep 2011
