Instructions for {{Hidecat}}
{{Hidecat}} is used to automatically hide categories. It also leaves behind a message telling other readers that the category has been hidden.

Usage

On category pages only, type
{{hidecat}}
.

Please note that categories generally should not be hidden. This template is only for use in exceptional cases where there is good cause to hide categories. Remember, too, that the hiding of categories can be easily overridden by users who explore their Special:Preferences just a bit.

Display

This is a hidden category.

Users cannot see it by default. In order to see it on pages where it has been placed, users must click an option in Special:Preferences.

In general, categories should not be hidden. However, in the case of categories which are created solely for use with advanced coding functions like DPL or SMW, or when they have been created in order to facilitate the Game of Rassilon, it can be useful to hide them.
