Aja'ib was a book of strange marvels which Sam Jones stole for the Eighth Doctor while on Hyspero. (EDA: The Scarlet Empress)
Strange marvels in Aja'ib
- The following notes in brackets are educated guesses at which stories these apply to
- In which the hapless hero travels to a city lost under the sea, seduces the sea witch, kills the king and unleashes the power of the great white bird that controls the passing of time. (Which oddly enough is part of the plot of DW: The Time Monster)
- "'This is all about a terrible rogue,' he said tutting. 'He calls up the devil in this story! Gives everyone the runaround. Then he draws evil monsters from the sea. They have the heads of fish and the bodies of men. He enlists monsters and rogues and djinn to destroy his hated, perfect brother. Who always -' the Doctor smiled - 'manages to escape scot-free.'...'Now he's sold his good brother to his worst enemy! Iron automata possessed by evil spirits." (A mix of a few stories. DW: The Dæmons (calling up the Devil), DW: The Sea Devils (heads of fish bodies of men), DW: The Mind of Evil (the Master enlisting monsters and djinn), Frontier in Space (iron automata))
- "'Now they've found some way of making themselves invisible, on a planet where the natives are naturally invisible, and can only tell where each other is by wearing immense purple fur coats.'" (DW: Planet of the Daleks)
- "'About the race of men built from molten silver, whose innards ran with mercury, who emerged from deep beneath the world's icy crust.'" (This is probably about the Cybermen and could be about DW: The Tomb of the Cybermen)
