Summary

The Tenth Doctor and Heather arrive at the launch of a brand-new factory in the near future on Earth. Using waste conversion technology TRASH INC plans to end world hunger with their Convert-o-Matic a fully automatic factory producing canisters of a ‘Generic Food Substitute’ made from household rubbish! The Doctor is naturally curious and hiding in the factory until its quiet, goes investigating. The factory he finds is a Supermassive Matter Transporter, an industrial teleport. Guarded by green one-eyed tentacled creatures the Doctor realises an invasion is imminent with the creatures hiding and being distributed across the world in the ‘food’ canisters. But Heather falls into the transporter and finds herself on a planet where all the waste is being dumped. She manages to capture one of the creatures (a Benjix), with a tyre when it follows her through the transporter, before using the transporter to return. The Doctor has been busy with his sonic screwdriver and by “reversing the polarity” of the transmit beam – sends the rubbish and the Benjix back home before breaking the transporter for good.

Notes

  • The DWA comic strip adventures were very much aimed at a younger audience and the artwork and colours were bold and bright, reflecting the tone of the magazine.
  • Self contained, one part stories were the norm.
  • This was another under the title 'The Tenth Doctor's Untold Stories'.
