IndexPanopticon → Disambiguation titles
Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

I wnated to ask about the disambiguation titles, because I think it's a bit bizzare that when you search for a story title, it sometimes sends you to something else of the same name. I think that story titles should be the primary use of a search, and the other uses should be reached through a disambig page, or link in the episode page. The only exceptions would be if:

1) The story title is that of a villain, or species (e.g The Daleks (TV story), Dalek (TV story) and probably Robot (TV story))
2) The title is the same for two different stories (e.g Shada (TV story) and Shada (audio release))
3) The title is a person, or character (e.g Captain Jack Harkness (Torchwood story))

If it is a planet (as in Logopolis), or similar, then the story should take the main use. At the very least, it should be a disambig page - and not to the planet page. Jack's the man - 21:17, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Unnecessary Disambiguation Pages

I've been going through the articles and I've come to the conclusion that some of the disambiguation pages are unnecessary. These are mainly the ones that have only two articles linked (admittedly, in some cases these are needed). If there are only two, then all that is needed is to put a link at the top of the article pointing to the other page of the similiar name (see Quinn, The Beast and Think Tank for examples of this).

Here are some of the unnecessary disambiguation pages of this kind that I have found:

Another problem I have with the Disambiguation pages is the number of them that have "(disambiguation)" after them (again, I admit that these are sometimes necessary). Here are some that I think don't need it:

I have some ideas on what times the exceptions should be made, but I'm not entirely sure how I can put it into words. I'm sure something can be worked out. Doug86 07:41, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
