Tom Flanagan was evacuated to Cardiff at the age of eight, during the London Blitz in 1941. His mother and sister died during the war, so he never returned to London. Due to a paper error he wasnt' picked up with the other children and was accidently left overnight on his own in the train station. He was eventually picked up when the error was discovered.
