As a reflection of your concern that members of the community may see the need to create an article based on unconfirmed information, I have upped the protection level on all permutations of 'Christmas Special 2010' to admin only, so that these are not created in error or enthusiasm by other users of the community. Thanks for bringing this to my awareness. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] 13:52, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:
~ ~ ~ ~

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.

Normal recipes, named after Doctor Who people or things from the Doctor Who universe.

As for getting involved it depends on how much experience (using wikis) and what you know about Doctor Who, I suggest having a look around, getting familiar, searching for stuff there's the Forum which is divided into the Forum:Reference desk (discussing the Doctor Who universe and bits of it relating to this wiki) and Forum:Panopticon mainly operational matters to do with this wiki. --Tangerineduel 14:57, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

What do you want to do?

As I said above, what would you like to do? Is there something specific you have in mind as to doing? Also check out Tardis:To Do List (found in the Help:Contents page, the link is the third bullet point down on the Welcome box). Hope this helps, any questions please ask. --Tangerineduel 13:40, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Christmas special

Short answer: No. Long answer: No. The information needs to be able to be confirmed from a source such as: the BBC, Doctor Who Magazine, or a media article that can be verified as something not just speculation. Those four words are not words I haven't seen on numerous pages relating to the Christmas special before. Ghosts in the Machines will remain locked until after the broadcast of the Christmas special or before if it happens to be the title. --Tangerineduel 16:49, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

I did take (some) time to skim through the website. Most of those images have been floating around for some time. What the person says on their website can't be verified. As this wiki is written as encyclopaedic, and certainly follows Wikipepdia's rules with regards to real world articles we need to be able to verify the information. Blogs (unless they're by authors etc, Lance Parkin has one as does Lawrence Miles) are very hard to verify as it's basically someone saying they did this...etc. --Tangerineduel 13:37, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
I think not, until we have confirmed information from a source such as the BBC or Doctor Who Magazine there shouldn't be any pages created in relation to the Christmas special. The videos are the 'next time' from the end of Journey's End and another BBC trailer, hardly enough to put a page together from. --Tangerineduel 15:54, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
If I were to let this unconfirmed information through then it would open the floodgates for any and all information to be put up on this wiki whether it true or not. It would hardly be fair to all the other users of this wiki to let only you edit an article. Until the name and any significant information is released any unconfirmed information will be removed. --Tangerineduel 16:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Other Doctor

Other Doctor currently re-directs to Meta-Crisis Tenth Doctor. The only other page I can think of was The Other Doctor, which was created by a user who was not signed in, and had one sentence: 'The other Doctor has been confirmed by David Tennant It is a future Incarnation of the doctor!'. Disregarding the fact that it had no actual content for the moment, if I recall correctly it was mentioned by David Tennant in an episode of Confidential, the in-universe articles are written using information from within the Doctor Who universe primarily, any information from outside it takes a secondary role. --Tangerineduel 15:48, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Cybershades

Fine. Article created Cybershade, I'm still a little doubtful on the BBC confirming it, its appearance in a trailer doesn't constitute the BBC confirming it, as the trailer doesn't name them. A quick google search didn't turn up any prominent press releases, but the page is referenced without any random speculation regarding them. --Tangerineduel 14:53, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Umm. No thanks. I'll wait more or less un-spoilered until it's broadcast. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 13:47, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

The Waters of Mars

Open the page? The article is semi-protected (if that's what you are referring to), this prevents un-logged in users from editing the article. --Tangerineduel 14:13, October 30, 2009 (UTC)

Christmas special 2010

A page will be created when there's a confirmed name for it. If we create a page based on some permutation of 'Christmas Special 2010' it's just creating work for ourselves because when a name is confirmed we have to move the page and correct all the pages that used whatever name we used while there wasn't a name.

--Tangerineduel 13:52, July 12, 2010 (UTC)
