Digby was a relative of Madge Arwell and her children, Cyril and Lily Arwell. He was much wealthier than the Arwells, and possessed a large country estate by at least 1941. Digby, however, had vacated the house to live, according to Lily, "in a home in Battersea". (DW: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe)
Behind the scenes
This character's name is an obvious allusion to Professor Digory Kirke, who owns the estate which houses the wardrobe in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
