Professor Livesy-Smythe was a Human responsible for a British archaeological survey of Rome in 1923 which Torchwood monitored. This expedition turned up a scroll by Caecilius telling of the true faith of Pompeii, first allerting Torchwood to the existence of the Pyroviles. (Captain Jack's Monster Files)
