A jaguar was an Earth mammal native to at least South America. A large, wild cat (also see Lion), it was hostile to humans. The Second Doctor, John and Gillian once put a jaguar into a trap to harass any men who fell into it. This "jaguar trap" was a part of a larger scheme to defend one village from another.
