A time spillage was a temporal phenomenon in which time accelarated out of control, causing non-time sensitives to age rapidly. This usually occurred in the presence of a TARDIS which had either been tampered with or was faulty.

When the Rani visited Killingworth in the 19th century to gain the chemicals she needed on Miasimia Goria, the Sixth Doctor gained access to her TARDIS and tampered with the controls, setting it to allow time to accelerate when the Rani dematerialised. This flung the Rani and the Master towards the walls of the TARDIS, stopping her from undoing the effects. Her samples of dinosaur embyros started to grow during this effect.
