In a continuity error, the balloon was described by [[Jackson Lake]] as being powered by gas, which he said he regularly bought from a nearby gasworks plant for "a minor fee". Yet when piloted by the Doctor, it was powered by only hot air. It should be remembered that Jackson was still under the influence of the infostamp and, believing himself to be the Doctor, he might have believed that the balloon was filled with gas when it was only hot air. Hot air is created by [[Fire|burning]] something, so he used gas for fuel.
