:Maybe. It could also have been a very long time in the future, when there are so many planets it would be like expecting everybody to recognise all of the countries on Earth, and Shan Shen has cut most connections with Earth. Nobody knows. The comment about it being an Earth colony will probably be considered speculation and be removed sometime in the near future anyway. {{:User:Ghelæ/sig}} 15:59, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Judging by the look of spaceships flying around, I guess this is post destruction of earth? <math>Insert formula here</math>
:The reason I inserted the comment, and imo the strongest evidence for it being an Earth colony, was the presence of actual Chinese writing. I doubt this would be present on a planet that was merely China-like. Still, I agree Donna feeling the need to explain where Earth is is odd. might be in the far future though, there has been evidence of Earth being an obscure planet in the human sphere of influence before, and either way, it would be just like Donna to try to explain this, not realising that every human on the planet knows about Earth  - [[User:Capricorn|Capricorn]] 16:27, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I was re-watching Turn Left (as you do) and I read a sign that said 神神 (it's right at the start).  It reads 'shen shen', but I think there is always the chance they were aiming for 禅神, which reads 'shan shen'.  I don't know any Chinese, I'm a Japanese speaker, but they use Chinese characters in Japanese and it made me go "HMM."

Maybe. ~ Ghelæ -talk-contribs 15:59, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Judging by the look of spaceships flying around, I guess this is post destruction of earth?

The reason I inserted the comment, and imo the strongest evidence for it being an Earth colony, was the presence of actual Chinese writing. I doubt this would be present on a planet that was merely China-like. Still, I agree Donna feeling the need to explain where Earth is is odd. might be in the far future though, there has been evidence of Earth being an obscure planet in the human sphere of influence before, and either way, it would be just like Donna to try to explain this, not realising that every human on the planet knows about Earth - Capricorn 16:27, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Chinese name[[edit source]]

I was re-watching Turn Left (as you do) and I read a sign that said 神神 (it's right at the start). It reads 'shen shen', but I think there is always the chance they were aiming for 禅神, which reads 'shan shen'. I don't know any Chinese, I'm a Japanese speaker, but they use Chinese characters in Japanese and it made me go "HMM."

What do we think?
