Sontaran Field Major Styre created a robot known as the Scavenger (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Sontaran Experiment) on Earth to help him keep the GalSec astronauts in line and to patrol the landscape and to capture anyone it encountered.

It used a form of grappling cables to incapacitate and capture humans. It was easily disabled by the Fourth Doctor's sonic screwdriver. (TV: The Sontaran Experiment)
