Lucius was a caretaker of a villa in 1st century Italy (PROSE: Romans Cutaway) which belonged to Flavius Giscard. (TV: The Romans)

In 64 AD, Lucius was looking after the villa whilst Flavius was away campaigning in Gaul. On one day, he was wounded by a lion and died in the arms of the First Doctor and his companion Vicki, who had come to explore the villa. He made the pair swear to look after the villa until his master returned. (PROSE: Romans Cutaway)
