Time for more pointless speculation. I was always suspicious about the name Oswin Oswald. Too many O's, too many W's, and even worse, a D. Then when her second incarnation had the name Clara, I got a serious case of the Tom Riddle's, because there was that R.
My guess is that her next incarnation will contain another name - though she might still be 'Clara' for identification. But, I wonder... The preview of upcoming episodes showed her in several period costumes: pre-modern, modern and post-modern. Not that a girl can't change her outfit, but it made me ask myself if Rory's record is being threatened.
Anyway, back to the name. When Jenna was announced, several names circulated. Odd, really, that so much confusion existed over her name, except that now we understand. I suspect a message in the name, of course (this is me we're talking about), especially given the mounting obsession with the secret of the doctor's name. Going into anagram mode, all that is missing from her names to form 'Doctor Who' is T, H, and another O. One of the early leaked names was 'Charlotte'. You get a lot of extra letters after that, so it makes me wonder what the rest is. A name? A whole sentence? The word 'alias' is already in there, but I doubt that is part of it. If we get Charlotte, we're only missing an M to make the word 'name'.
Bottom line, I'm expecting more names. I'm curious if it will get progressively longer, or if names will just begin to swap out. Wibbly-Wobbly ☎ 22:00, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
I'm guessing that each incarnation of JLCs character will take one name from a previous one and add on a new one. For instance, after Oswin Oswald we get Clara Oswin and after that we get something Clara. 94.72.226.48talk to me 12:57, December 31, 2012 (UTC)
On the gravestone, her full name was given as Clara Oswin Oswald, so I think it's likely to be more complicated than that. Also, in The Snowmen, she used an alias ("Miss Montague") in her post as governess to the Latimer children. It might be that her real full name will be Clara Oswin Oswald every time but that she'll use permutations of that (Clara Oswin, Clara Oswald, Oswin Oswald) in her everyday life & also use assumed names. However, the only way to find out for sure is to wait & see.
The clothes thing doesn't really mean much. Some of the companions have regularly dressed to fit whatever time & place they were visiting. Others have stuck mostly to one style, except when it would cause real trouble.
Rory's record is already threatened. He didn't actually die that often but he nearly died or was thought to have died quite a few more. This one has already managed 2 actual deaths in 2 episodes. (Doesn't seem to be slowing her down much, though!) --78.146.181.218talk to me 14:26, December 31, 2012 (UTC)
P.S. We know, from the graveyard scene with her friend at the end of The Snowmen, that she doesn't believe in ghosts. I wonder: Does she believe in reincarnation? --78.146.181.218talk to me 14:33, December 31, 2012 (UTC)
