An unnamed hiker was walking at night through the woods near the Fetch Priory in Fetchborough in July 1977, while whistling "The Entertainer".

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

The hiker ran from something and fell, unable to move. The next morning, his body was discovered by Adam Colby, whose pet dog Leakey had led him to it.

Dr. Fendelman ordered Maximillian Stael to do a post-mortem on the hiker's body, but Stael found this impossible as the body was decomposing rapidly — describing this as "It's as if all the binding force has gone and all that remains is a husk." However, Stael found all the outward signs were that the man died very recently: the coffee in his thermos flask was still hot, he had a copy of yesterday's newspaper, and the mud on his boots was still wet.

Fendelman subsequently ordered Stael to dispose of the hiker's body. (TV: Image of the Fendahl)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • The hiker has only one line of dialogue during the whole of his appearance in part one — namely "I can't... I can't...", as he tries to run from the unseen horror pursuing him.
