The Culture was the self-assigned name of a sentient cell culture encountered by the Seventh Doctor. Their mass mind (which they called "syntelligence") was able to send him a telepathic distress call; he helped them to fight a virus infection. The Culture was hosted in a dinosaur-like creature they called "homebody". (COMIC: Culture Shock!)
