: Yeah, I sort of agree. The helmet covering the face is part of the Ice Warrior "look". Most of ''Cold War'' is set in a dark submarine, so I don't know if there's anything in that story that's better lit than the black and white image we used to have, but it seems to make more sense to represent Ice Warriors as a whole with the helmet on, which ''is'' present in ''Cold War''. -- [[User:Tybort|Tybort]] ([[User talk:Tybort|talk page]]) 17:16, April 15, 2013 (UTC)

It is the policy of this wiki not to use promotional images on in-universe articles. If a picture is to be used of the new Ice Warrior design, it must come from an episode, of which only ''Cold War'' currently features the design. --[[User:Revanvolatrelundar|Revan]]\[[User_talk:Revanvolatrelundar|Talk]] 08:59, June 23, 2014 (UTC)

The paragraph describing ''Judgement of Isskar''{{'}}s honour and the Martians "giving things freely" says that this was before they became a warrior race again. Is this stated or inferred by ''[[Lords of the Red Planet (audio story)|Lords of the Red Planet]]''? :It originally stated that it was before they became a warrior race. I added "again" because in "Lords of the Red Planet" the Gandorans create them as a slave warrior race (which could never backfire, could it?). Actually, it appears (I wrote some of it before I listened to the ''whole'' story) that ''all'' the Ice Warriors in the story, created by the Gandorans by forced evolution of the Saurians, are killed in the story. At the end, Quandril promises not to tamper with forced evolution and genetic engineering anymore, but the Doctor, knowing that the Ice Warriors will take over the planet eventually, speculates that he either did have some more Ice Warriors created, or that they eventually evolved naturally from the Saurians. So it ''is'' possible that the later Ice Warriors were originally peaceful. == Humanoids? ==
I'm a bit confused on this point. I haven't watched ''[[Cold War (TV story)|Cold War]]'' in years, but my recollection is that, without the armour, Ice Warriors are more of an octopus-like scuttling creatures. Their armour is humanoid without a doubt. The images in [[:Category:Cold War TV story images]] do not show their full body. Is their description as humanoid due to the armour or is their a confirmation in ''Cold War''? :I'm fairly certain they've been confirmed humanoid in various non-TV stories. Even on TV, the Ice Lords look pretty humanoid underneath their helmets. When it comes to ''Cold War'', I know that they made a naked Ice Warrior action figure based on the designs used in the episode. Pretty sure the actual creature was not fully seen in the episode. == New image ==
It's been somewhat agreed by recent edits that the current infobox image for this page isn't very acceptable. I've come to agree that the close-up shot, while certainly looking very alien, doesn't represent this species very well.
I figured it might be a worthy discussion now to talk about the potential of hunting for a new image to represent the species. In the past I've been fond of the idea of striving to use Classic Series images for predominately classic series monsters. However, since then the 'clip' variable has meant that there are already assured to be two images (via thumbnails) of Classic Series Ice Warriors in the infobox. Thus I think an image from [[TV]]: ''[[Empress of Mars (TV story)|Empress of Mars]]'' would be acceptable.
Keep in mind, as is the case with the [[Dalek]]s and [[Cybermen (Mondas)|Cybermen]], it would also be acceptable to choose an image from a comic as a compromise between the new and old versions of the show.
As a start to the discussion, I will be posting several images already on the site as potential pics for the infobox. [[User:OttselSpy25|OS25]] ([[User Talk:OttselSpy25|Talk]]) 17:15, June 13, 2017 (UTC)

:: #5 is a solid choice, but I would insist that someone upload a higher quality image. I too was hoping for an image that captured the structure of the Warriors well. [[User:OttselSpy25|OS25]] ([[User Talk:OttselSpy25|Talk]]) 22:34, June 13, 2017 (UTC)
:: Actually, I've done some thinking, and #5 is right out. It shows an Ice Warrior design that's frankly gone out-of-fashion (of the leader, with the very specific helmet). There is no need to represent a version of the Ice Warriors that is a) unlikely to be used in future stories and is b) already represented in the infobox via the 'clip2' variable. We need to go for images that capture the Ice Warriors and not the unique designs of their leaders/kings/queens. [[User:OttselSpy25|OS25]] ([[User Talk:OttselSpy25|Talk]]) 15:56, June 14, 2017 (UTC)

The issue with Live Action #5 and Comic #5 alike is that they don't depict the ''scaliness'' of the Ice Warriors (another striking element of their visual aesthetic) as clearly as one would wish. --[[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|☎]] 17:05, August 25, 2020 (UTC)

This question is both spoiler and speculation. The only place on this wiki you can discuss this question is at the Howling:The Howling. Thanks! Shambala108 16:06, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Oops sorry just exited! Thoth the wise 16:09, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

No problem, that's why I gave you not only a place where you can discuss it but also the wiki rules so you know what is and isn't allowed. Shambala108 16:52, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Vexing?[[edit source]]

Before amending to talk about Skaldak's eye colour, I removed a bit about firing at an Ice Warrior's eyes, at it didn't seem to make much sense. -- Tybort (talk page) 23:18, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

...and large black eyes (COMIC: Descendance); an enemy firing at their eyes was particularly vexing. (COMIC: 4-Dimensional Vistas)

Main picture[[edit source]]

Do we really have to keep the actual picture (Skaldak without a helmet) as the main picture ? It really doesn't depict the Ice Warriors as we know them... Chapeltok 12:55, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
