Please do not place fan fiction on the wiki's articles such as The Master as this can be seen as vandalism Dark Lord Xander 06:09, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

I certainly don't want to vandalize. The addition of the short story "Under the Stairs" falls under the category of fan fiction, however the novel Time's Champion, although an unofficial publication, can be argued is more than this. It is a full-length novel, based on a commissioned author's work and edited and printed by Doctor Who affliated professionals. It represents many years of work and planning, as well as the final fictional work of Craig Hinton's life. The story also is recognized by respected series podcasts and websites. It has been included in many noted affliate website for sale; the story itself is being circulated by readers and its effects on reader's perceptions of continuity are clear as any other officially published novel. It should be noted, also, that there are examples of unofficial stories which have gained "canonical" status due to their importance on the character development and backhistory of the Doctor and/or companions, such as "Schrodigner's Botanist" in the Perfect Timing collection serving as Grant Markham's departure, or Craig Hinton's own "One Perfect Twlight" as the origin of Kamelion. Therefore, based on precedence and the notariety of this novel, I feel that it is perhaps unfair to label "Time's Champion" as simply fan fiction, whose additions to continuity on this wiki would be dismissed as potential vandalism. Consider, the John Benton webpage now lists the character's birthday as 6 January, 1938, a date supplied by "Time's Champion." The Valeyard page is sure to note the origins of the character based from this novel as well, as it is the only source in Doctor Who fiction to examine this backhistory. In all, I feel that it should not be a problem to list the continuity point that the War Chief is the Master based on information provided in "Time's Champion." After all, what is Doctor Who but all fan fiction? :)--Medusa Cascade 01:05, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Medusa Cascade 01:04, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
