Bliss was an addictive mood drug sold on the planet New Earth. After Bliss became extremely popular and was regularly taken, a virus eventually mutated inside the compound and became airborne. In 5,000,000,029, the virus killed the majority of the population of New Earth within seven minutes flat, save Novice Hame and the Face of Boe, the former protected by the latter's smoke, and the inhabitants of the undercity of New New York and the Motorway after they were sealed. With no hosts to feed on, the virus itself eventually perished. (TV: Gridlock)
