I just want to let you know that the picture that was on the Alan Mace page was not a promotional picture. Promo pics are pictures which have been captured outside of episodes, like those that the BBC iplayer displays as an episode's thumbnail. Having the BBC watermark on the image does not make it a promo pic but the picture is better without it. I just wanted to let you know. Personnel pagesedit source

Thank you very much for your efforts to create pages for production personnel like Catherine Morshead. There are a few things your pages lack that would help them be even more useful. Overall, I would encourage you to read our Manual of style at some point in the near future. It'll give you some pointers about how to format articles. However, here are some key things that you might want to keep in mind for the future.

 • All pages about production personnel should be flagged as "articles about the real world", the name of the person must be bolded, and you should link as many words as can be linked to articles on this wiki. So, the article Catherine Morshead should begin:
real worldCatherine Morshead in an English director who . . .
 • All pages, related to actors or not, should be put into a category when the article is first created. This can be accomplished several ways, but the easiest is just to click "Add category" and start typing. The software will match your text as you type it, so you don't even have to type out the whole category. The category for Doctor Who directors is exactly that: Doctor Who directors. By the time you've typed "Doctor Who d", the software will already be presenting you with that category, so click on its suggestion, press enter, and you're done.
 • All articles about people should ideally be sorted in categories by the last name of the person. The recommended way of making this happen is to use a thing called "DEFAULTSORT". Add the following to the bottom of your articles, and the system will tidy away the article without you having to think about it:

Thanks again for your edits, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them either directly of me, or on Forum:Panopticon. CzechOut | 06:26, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the info Czech, will read up on that =)! --The Brig 15:53, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Quotes and MOSedit source

the Manual of Style has changed, which was not made well-known so why you may not know. Quotes are to to fitted into the article, not at the top of it, the quote has to to relative to the article, e.g. descriptive. All Television articles had their quotes removed from the top of the page, and we are currently going through all the monster, aliens, villains, characters etc and removing the quote from them. I would ask you to wait till we finished doing this, before putting qoute into the article, under the headings, and must be relevant. Sorry for the inconvenience, and if your still unsure, please see the MOS or ask an admin. See here for details. Mini-mitch 21:21, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Mini-Mitch! I didn't know but will read up on the changes =) The Brig 11:19, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Category:Humansedit source

Hi, Cat:Humans only needs to be added to a page if it's not in any of the sub-categories of Cat:Humans. For instance one of the edits you made to John Benton (Inferno Earth), it already had the category Category:Human military officers, as this category is a sub-category of Cat:Humans, 'Cat:Humans' did not need to be added. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 15:58, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Ahh, okay! Thanks for the info! =) --The Brig 10:07, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

Fish Custardedit source

Fish Custard has not been used on screen. Fish Fingers and Custard is all we've heard. --The Brig 22:53, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation pagesedit source

Please do not do what you did with Cyber-lord. If a is already an article and is to become a disambiguation page, it must first be moved and then the redirect deleted. It needs to be moved to preserve its history, not simply copy and pasted to a new page. The original article becomes a redirect which should then be deleted by an admin and the disambiguation page created, refreshing the page's history. Thanks. The Thirteenth Doctor 20:44, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

At the top of the page, there is a move button. Click it and then enter the name the page has to be moved to. Then a redirect will be created, which you can have deleted by adding the delete tag to the page. After it is deleted you can create the disambiguation page. Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
