I've been writing the plot summary in past tense, however, the The Clockwise Man (novel) summary is written in present tense. Articles are written in past, but the plot for that is present. Before I type up another 15 paragraphs, I'd like to be 100% sure. Do I write it in past tense, present, or does it not matter? If it doesn't matter, I'm going to write it in present tense. Adding a Plot Section to This Page?edit source
Ok, so I own this novel, and I'm wondering if it would be Ok for me to read through it, then summarise the plot on this page? Most novel pages do not have summaries of the plot, they just have to be added. Masterpwn ☎ 14:56, April 9, 2014 (UTC)
- For some reason, the "Plot" heading is missing from some novel pages. It belongs right after the "Publisher's summary" section.
- If you've read the book, then please do give a plot summary. The main thing I want to emphasize is that we don't want to copy plot summaries from other sources, we want original content for our wiki. So as long as it's your own writing, then it's welcome and appreciated. Shambala108 ☎ 16:29, April 9, 2014 (UTC)
I'm going to be reading the book this weekend and I'm wondering if there is a specific format or anything that I should follow. I am planning to just write 2-5 sentences per chapter. Masterpwn ☎ 12:52, April 11, 2014 (UTC)
- No specific format, as long as you keep the summary in readable paragraphs. I've seen some plot summaries that are just one long paragraph, and they're a nightmare to read. Most plot summaries have limited wikilinks (the exceptions are NuWho and Torchwood, as they're part of the Rotten Tomatoes project). So you don't have to link everything. Layloran Vs. Laylorianedit source
The natives of the planet are actually called "Layloran(s)" not Laylorians, but the seem to be titled the latter way on the wiki. Could we fix this?– The preceding unsigned comment was added by Masterpwn (talk • contribs) .
- If you create a page, and then realize the name is wrong, you put a rename tag at the top of the page. That way it will get the attention of an admin, who can move the page to the correct name.
- In this case you would type Layloran . Shambala108 ☎ 15:10, April 11, 2014 (UTC)
Past Vs. Present Tenseedit source
I've been writing the plot summary in past tense, however, the The Clockwise Man (novel) summary is written in present tense. Articles are written in past, but the plot for that is present. - In universe articles are written in the past tense, as are many but not all out of universe articles. Plot summaries, however, are always written in the present tense, whether TV stories, prose, comics, audio, or whatever. Shambala108 ☎ 22:41, April 14, 2014 (UTC)
