Ania Baker was a member of the 18-month expedition aboard SS Humphrey Bogart to find the planet Laylora. She spent five years in the Space Naval Academy along with Jonn Hespell. Ania was the only one injured by the initial Witiku attack on the ship. She was part of the crew who went hunting the Witiku, but got lost with Hespell and Rez, and was later rescued by the villagers who came to save the Tenth Doctor and Kendle.
