Sergeant Amies was Constable Sharpless' superior officer in the police force.
Investigating a painting theft one evening in 1933, Amies encountered Sharpless. He learned that Sharpless had just met a man with a painting and let him go. The two men tracked the man, Lucas Seyton. They headed in the direction taken by Seyton, but when they found him, he was fighting several robots. Amies and Sharpless were killed by the robots.
