A time flow analog was a device used by Gallifreyans as a jamming signal. One could be cobbled together using various household objects.
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Third Doctor claimed that he and his friends at school on Gallifrey used to make time flow analogues to "spoil each others' time experiments".
After the Master took control of TOMTIT, the Doctor fashioned a time flow analogue out of things such as silverware, wine bottle corks, a corkscrew, napkin rings, an upturned ashtray, key fobs, a bodkin needle and an empty mug. This was used to temporarily impede the Master's continued abuse of the machine. The Master soon caught on that TOMTIT was being jammed and raised its power output, overloading the time flow analog. It fried the device with a pop of sparks and knocked the tea mug to the floor. (TV: The Time Monster)
During a later plan by the Master, the Sixth Doctor creates a time-flow analog from old chairs, a hat stand and other items lying around a warehouse, this time using Stuart Hyde's whiskey flask to complete the job. The ratios between the molecular bonds resonated with the time fields, creating a temporary safe path to the Master's TARDIS. (PROSE: The Quantum Archangel)
Petronella Osgood made a time flow analog, which she had only attempted once before, to stop a Siren of Time from reanimating dinosaurs and human skeletons. (AUDIO: The Sacrifice of Jo Grant)
