- According to the book Doctor Who: A History of the Universe in 100 Objects it was indeed inspired by the show. To quote the book - "The Valiant is a tribute to SkyBase from Gerry Anderson’s Captain Scarlet, which was used to launch the Angel’s into action against Mysteron attack."
