Rigel was a star in the constellation Orion. Ian Chesterton pointed it out to Vicki Pallister in the night sky of 1st century Thrace. The First Doctor once visited a tavern on Rigel during the early years of the Draconian Purges, in the company of Susan. On the visit, he was recovering from bruises inflicted by the Mountain Mauler of Montana, while Satie's Trois Gymnopédies was played by a three-armed creature. (PROSE: Byzantium!)
