Ram Vermas was the grandfather of Rani Chandra and the father of Gita Chandra.

When he died, Rani's grandmother washed everything from curtains to furniture and the walls. It took her days to do so and when she stopped she started crying. (PROSE: Death of the Doctor) Gita Chandra reacted in a similar way to the death of Rani's grandfather. (TV: Death of the Doctor)
