Karuna was one of the Kinda on Deva Loka, and the acolyte of the tribe's blind wise woman Panna.

Karuna possessed speech and was empathic towards the others in her tribe. She was questioning of her master's plans, but carried them out without much protest. Due to her young age, she was treated more fairly by outsiders to the Kinda.
She could sense the feelings of others and would be often asked by her master to read visitors' feelings to know how they could help.
When Karuna was told by the Fifth Doctor the "Not-We" only had one father, whereas she herself had seven, she thought this sad.
After Panna died, Karuna received her master's spirit and was snapped out of her obedience to the Mara-possessed Aris. (TV: Kinda)
