Paul Kettering was a friend of Lucas Seyton. He flew in the air force as a Squadron Leader during World War I, together with Seyton.
In 1933, he owned a two-seater aeroplane, a Bristol F.2B biplane. Kettering and Seyton used the aeroplane to help the Second Doctor rescue Jamie McCrimmon and Zoe Heriot from flying robots. The robots attacked the plane, and while the Doctor and Seyton parachuted out, Kettering was apparently killed when the plane crashed. He survived the crash, however, after falling into a lake and turned up in the nick of time to rescue Seyton and the Doctor from metal arachnids with the plane's Lewis gun. When the adventure was over, he and Seyton lost their memories of the events. (PROSE: Fallen Angel)
