The Archon was the supreme ruler of the Althosian system. He was appointed by the Academy.
In 2400, the Fellowship killed and crucified the Archon in his own palace. This was part of their ritualistic plan to summon the Yssgaroth. The Academy had been disbanded by that time, so it was the end of formal government in the system. (PROSE: The Pit)
