Merak was a native of Atrios.
Merak worked as a surgeon, and was in love with Princess Astra. He didn't agree with the Marshal's policies, convinced that peace with the neighbouring planet of Zeos was the only way to save his people. He helped rescue her from the Shadow and was reunited with her after the Black Guardian's defeat. (TV: The Armageddon Factor)
