George was the landlord of the Black Swan in Cheldon Bonniface in the mid-19th century. He was a friend of the Doctor, and enjoyed playing chess with him.
In 1992, Anthony Rupert Hemmings posed as George in the replica of Cheldon Bonniface created on the Moon by the Timewyrm to trap the Seventh Doctor, who eventually saw through the disguise and escaped. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Revelation)
