Caresh was a planet in a binary system, inhabited by the Careshi. It had habitable land and large oceans.

A passing neutron star threatened to disrupt Caresh's orbit, making it uninhabitable. Lord Roche tried to change the neutron star's path to put Caresh into a closer orbit to Beacon, its warmest sun, though that would have caused the deaths of those living on Caresh's Southern Archipelago. With the Third Doctor's help, Roche instead moved Caresh into a closer, more stable orbit around its cooler sun Ember. (PROSE: The Suns of Caresh)
