Okay, so I've been looking at my old copies of Doctor Who Adventures and my Doctor Who DVD Files and I've noticed something. They refer to K9 as K-9, not K9. == Source for sonic lipstick in K9 ==
I think that the source for the statement that Sarah Jane's sonic lipstick and scanner watch were found in a hidden panel in K9 Mark IV was something on the old BBC Sarah Jane Adventures website. I tried looking for it via archive.org, but that site doesn't handle Flash very well, and I couldn't find the source. (I did find a page which said that the sonic lipstick was a present from the Doctor, but it didn't mention where he left it.)

Biography section
The biography section needs toning down into a brief overview of the various K9s rather than being almost as long as on the actual pages for the K9 units. == how many k9's ==
i have a question
I understand there is k9 mark 1 to 4 and then k9 mark 1.2 regenerated from mark 1 in k9 regeneration but when k9 losses his regeneration unit and dies but gets it back at the end it says that he got a bright blue coat of paint and his old dog collar so is this a new model of k9 or just the old mark 2 with a new colour
One individual?
The page (and the sub-pages about specific versions) seem inconsistent on whether each K9 is an independent robot of the same model, or the same individual going through a series of transformations akin to the Doctor's regeneration (the term "Post-Regeneration" appears on at least one K9 subpage), albeit with the oddity that the old version still exists after the newer one 'splits off'.
The pages are extremely confusing as a result.

Upcoming K-9 Series?edit source

Should we go ahead and start a page for the upcoming K-9 children's series, or would it be better to wait until the actual debut? --Colleyd 22:50, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

An even more important question concerns if the show is even considered canon. It's not produced by the BBC and, from my understanding, doesn't have any involvement from prior Doctor Who staff. And somewhere I thought that there wouldn't even be cross overs between aliens and villains. So will we even track this in this Wiki? --Raukodraug 16:57, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Problem is that Park Entertainment have said that this series specifically stars K9 Mark I. So it uses an actual character from televised Doctor Who, rather than a "generic" K9. And it clearly uses prior DW staff in that Bob Baker is the writer/creator. He wrote 9 stories, making him the 3d most prolific writer of classic serials — 4th if you count RTD. And he's the 2d most prolific writer of the 1970s, behind only Robert Homes. CzechOut | 04:02, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

K9 or K-9edit source

This is just a minor thing, but where is it actually ever written as K-9? On K9 himself it's more of a dot than a hyphen and in the credit sequences it's just 'Voice of K9' without a hyphen. --Tangerineduel 08:27, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Just had a quick flick through Decalog 2: Lost Property in one of the stories (Housewarming it uses K-9...So it doesn't matter, I think just stick with K-9 then. --Tangerineduel 16:38, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Actually I think you make an interesting point, here. In no credits on television, even into the modern era, does any actor receive the credit, Voice of K-9. Yet, if you look on this very site, Wikipedia, the old Outpost Gallifrey Site, drwhoguide.com, or Shannon Sullivan's Brief History of Time (Travel) site, the mistake is repeated over and over again. Consistently, throughout these various episode guides, we get: "K-9". And I really don't know where it comes from.
Certainly, it doesn't come from any BBC or BBC Wales production, where the credit is almost always Voice of K9. The one exception is "Full Circle", where the credits read Voice of K.9 on every episode in which he appears. Though this is the only known example of any sort of consistent punctuation in a credit on any BBC production, the period seems to have returned in the latest promotional poster for the animated series, seeming to indicate that that series might actually be called, K•9.[1].
Nevertheless, the dominant form of his name in credits is simply K9. Since he was credited from the very start as "K9", I'm led to believe that was the authorial intent; that is, in the script of "The Invisible Enemy", Baker and Martin spelled it that way. For that reason alone, it seems to me, "K9" should be the title of the article, with "K-9" and "K.9" given as alternates.
Indeed, perhaps because of this manner of crediting, most non-fictional, "out-of-universe' uses of the name, do avoid the hyphen. I've never actually seen a British press release, for instance, which spells it any other way but K9. Here's the latest, for example, from the UK mag, SFX: [2]
Like you, I'm not quite sure how and why the hyphenated form came about, since we've never been given any indication from the BBC that this is in fact the way to spell the name. One tiny, now-contradicted-by-School-Reunion story in a Decalog, notwithstanding, the preponderance of actual evidence from the BBC seems to suggest the name is K9. K-9 & Company calls him K-9. (Obviously.)
I haven't found any evidence of this. The title card uses the K9 logo and thus appears to be K•9 and Company, which doesn't actually employ a hyphen. The end credits read Voice of K9, and the contemporary internal papers from the BBC as well as the VHS and Region 1 DVD releases go without any punctuation. That said, the Region 2 version of Invisible Enemy/A Girl's Best Friend does attempt to replicate the actual K9 logo, leaving us with that curious "dot-separated" way of expressing the name: "K•9 Tales" and "K•9 and Company", which can be seen even on the disc itself. In not only the case of K9 and Company, but all appearances of the character on television, the hyphenated K-9 just really seems to me like the one least backed up by actual evidence from the BBC. CzechOut | 01:24, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Just to revive this topic, Tangerineduel's point still stands. The character is, as far as I can determine, K9, not K-9. Two other pieces of evidence to consider: BBC DVD subtitling consistently calls him K9, not K-9. And Bob Baker's company is K9 Films, not K-9 Films. We should definitely move this, and all K9 pages to K9. CzechOut | 04:13, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
