The Cyber-Leader attempted to destroy the planet Voga, to eliminate its gold reserves and therefore prevent the production of glitterguns in future conflicts the Cybermen already planned. After its plan of planting bombs in the core of Voga failed, the Cyber-Leader planned to ram the space station Nerva Beacon into Voga in a last attempt to destroy the planet completely so its gold would no longer be a threat.
