I had put the Brave-ish Heart reference in the DWU section of the article only because The Taint already confirms that Frodo is a Rings character. So while it wouldn't be real world creep to suggest the reference to Frodo is one to Lord of the Rings, I can appreciate that the story itself does not mention the film. 07:05, November 16, 2016 (UTC)

Radagast the Brownedit source

Should it be mentioned that Sylvester McCoy is going to be playing Radagast in The Hobbit? It's not exactly Lord of the Rings, although the character is from the Lord of the Rings books.Icecreamdif talk to me 00:32, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

No. It was on the Sylvester McCoy page until I removed it. It is way to premature. It should not be added until the film is released and McCoy is seen on the big screen as the character he is playing.
Why? It can be considered a spoiler and as I stated before, it's way to early. Also, anything can happen between now and the film's release of McCoy's filming. The film could be cancelled, his part could be dropped, his part could be purely in a deleted scene or something might happen to McCoy before he films or that may cause the production team to change actor.
So please refrain from adding it to the page and the McCoy page, for the reasons above. MM/Want to talk? 21:08, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
He's in the final film of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but seeing as this about the novel The Lord of the Rings and not the wider Middle-earth world, I don't think it should be brought up. -- Tybort (talk page) 20:55, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Cultural referencesedit source

To avoid real world creep, I moved the Gollum and "Space Gandalf" references to the behind the scenes section. The original paragraph specifically mentions the Tenth Doctor as being familiar with the books, though. Rose was separated from the Doctor when she made the Gollum reference. Does the Tenth Doctor make another Rings reference that I forgot about? -- Tybort (talk page) 20:55, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Frodoedit source

I had put the Brave-ish Heart reference in the DWU section of the article only because The Taint already confirms that Frodo is a Rings character. So while it wouldn't be real world creep to suggest the reference to Frodo is one to Lord of the Rings, I can appreciate that the story itself does not mention the name of the film.
