This reference was omitted from the final version, as well as an exchange between Clara and the "Habbrian woman" in which the woman disputes that Rigsy had no motive for murdering Anah, observing that "Humans are apex predators. Natural killers. Even the children can chew through animal flesh with their bare teeth."
