I personally don't think the Uses sections need to be 'cleaned up'. I prefer knowing specific details on what each sonic has done, and a general overview would make that more complicated, in my opinion. But, I could be wrong. TheTARDISLegilimens ☎ 15:00, March 24, 2018 (UTC)

Perhaps they don't need to be complety cut down, but at least some cleaning up is needed. Look at the "uses" section of "The Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors' sonic screwdriver": we have 34 entries of "scanning...". And most of these are ridiculously specific: a lock of hair, an apple, cocoon, Clara Oswald. I mean, wouldn't it be a lot better to simply say that the Doctor used it as a scanner? Page splitting

I know this page is very long and is getting overcluttered. As such, would it be more beneficial to split the page into different models? For example, we could have one page dedicated to the First and Second Doctors' sonic screwdriver, another for the Third Doctor's model, etc. On each page, there could be lists for each Sonic's usages and this main page could be used as a general overview of the device. It may make navigation a bit overcomplicated, but it could clean up the page and save space. What is the general consensus on this idea? Mc dark knight 2013 ☎ 21:19, December 14, 2019 (UTC)

I agree. This page is unwieldy, and should really be split into individual models, like how we tend to split most characters with multiple incarnations nowadays. The page is also unhelpful, if, let's say, you wanted to know which was the first story that featured the Eighth Doctor's "Dark Eyes" screwdriver; the page listing TV: Fury from the Deep is not exactly useful.

I see that MrThermomanPreacher has suggested the splitting of this page on Tardis:Temporary forums, but given that it's a change which would only affect this page rather than the whole wiki, I don't think it actually needs a forum debate. A split of this page would be borderline required if the proposal for T:SPLIT passes, anyway. – n8 (☎) 16:09, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

I proposed it there because I believe the scale of the undertaking may be on par with the Master. Like that subject there is the matter of naming articles and a question as to exactly how many versions of the sonic screwdriver there are. MrThermomanPreacher ☎ 16:56, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
