Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. CzechOut ☎ 14:22, August 15, 2018 (UTC)
Spelling[[edit source]]
Hi, please note that we use British spelling on this wiki. See Tardis:Spelling for details. Thanks, Shambala108 ☎ 22:44, August 16, 2018 (UTC)
- You've been blocked for an hour to get your attention. Please read the policy I cited above, then respond here to state that you've read it. Thanks, Shambala108 ☎ 23:15, August 16, 2018 (UTC)
- Well I thought I made it clear. Your edits violate our spelling policy, and you continued to make them after I informed you of that. Sometimes we admins block people temporarily to get their attention. Make sure you read our spelling rules before you "correct" any more spelling. There are a lot of differences between British and (I'm assuming) American spelling.
- Incidentally, it's easier to contact someone on this wiki rather than going to wiki central, where you left the message for me. I pretty much never check that, and only happened to see it when I was at the other wiki I edit. I didn't block your ability to edit on this page specifically so you could leave a message here.
- I will unblock you, but make sure you don't correct any spelling unless you know for a fact that it's incorrect by British standards. Thanks, Shambala108 ☎ 23:49, August 16, 2018 (UTC)
You have to stop. You keep changing British spelling to American, against policy. Do not change any more spelling on this wiki until you learn the differences. Shambala108 ☎ 01:51, August 17, 2018 (UTC)
OK, the first time I blocked you was just to get your attention. Now you know your edits violate policy and you've been told to stop, but you haven't. I've blocked you for three days so you can learn the spelling differences. If you need to respond, do so on this page, because I don't check the main FANDOM page. Shambala108 ☎ 02:04, August 17, 2018 (UTC)
Incompatibility[[edit source]]
You claim to be unable to learn British spelling without external help. You threaten to continue violating our spelling rules if someone does not "give [you] all the British words". The combination of your inability to behave according to the rules of this wiki with your aggressive posture effectively disqualifies you from becoming a useful member of this community. You cannot expect other users, admin or otherwise, to babysit you. You are absolutely not entitled to demand it. You have interest in other wikis, some of which I am sure use the language familiar to you. Please apply your efforts there. Amorkuz ☎ 02:52, August 17, 2018 (UTC)
Re: your block[[edit source]]
Look, I only blocked you for three days. User:Amorkuz blocked you for longer for the reasons he stated above this message. Read that message carefully. If you want to make your case to him, do so on this talk page. Don't post the message at Community Central/FANDOM or whatever you want to call it, because he may not see it. And please stop harassing me with messages, it's now out of my hands. See Help:I'm blocked for the proper procedure for responding to blocks. Thanks, Shambala108 ☎ 19:59, August 18, 2018 (UTC)
Unsuccessful cover up[[edit source]]
I am glad that you finally followed the procedure and contacted me, the blocking admin, and hopefully stopped harassing other users, including one non-admin user. Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that you had tried to remove the post in which you had threatened to continue violating the rules of Tardis wiki, unless we, its admin, submit to your demands. In explaining my block above, I linked to your post. Apparently, your reaction was to try and conceal the truth. I'm afraid this is not acceptable. I am not an admin on Community Central where your whitewashing took place, but it is certainly prohibited on this wiki to modify one's posts that have already been quoted by other users. Thus, in the interests of transparency and truth, I reproduce the post that led to your current block here in full:
Oi, if you want me to stop it, then tell me or I will have to do it all the time. It's because of Grammerly so, if you want me to stop it, then please give me all the British words becuase I looked all the up and I couldn't find them. Also, I'm a student at 18. And I'm still reading my book so please, post them so I can do this when I have free time.
The original form of the now modified edit can be verified by clicking the "src" link above. Amorkuz ☎ 22:13, August 19, 2018 (UTC)
- For completeness purposes, here is a link to the edit where you removed the problematic content. And by now, as follows from the history of the page w:community:Thread:1500985, you started removing your posts en masse. Let me assure you that this is futile as FANDOM keeps complete histories of all pages. It is also not helping your case. Amorkuz ☎ 22:23, August 19, 2018 (UTC)
- Apologies for "butting in", but Grammarly (which is a grammar-checking Chrome extension) does have a British English setting, which I have notified Chasenina of. This would allow him to properly edit with only British English errors highlighted, and would clear up any confusion for him without the necessity for giving him "all the British words". It may be wise to give him amnesty in this case, since it may very well just be a case of being misled by an incorrect spellchecker setting (which I personally have as well). Of course, if you've had more experience and are confident that he cannot return (even after the spellchecker issues on his end are resolved) due to his aggressive behaviour, you may keep the block -- after all, it is your judgement entirely. I'm simply outlining some additional context from my usage of the software, and my belief that an infinite block may be rather heavy-handed in this scenario.

Still not following the rules: appeal declined[[edit source]]
Blocking is not such a rare occurrence, especially with novice users. They often violate rules unknowingly. Note that your first block was explicitly to draw your attention to the messages of an admin who had to clean up after you and was trying to explain to you the rules. That block was just for one hour and was lifted even earlier upon receiving a communication from you. The block was lifted despite your less than polite reaction "Why is the heck I'm locked?" Thus, Shambala108, believing in your good faith efforts to comply with the rules, unblocked you. However, she was forced to block you again, almost immediately. It took you only 2 hours 13 minutes to violate exactly the same rules you have just been explained. While reacting to this second block, you demanded to be taught British English or else you would continue breaking the rules. (Later you attempted to erase this comment, but it can be found upthread on this page.)
This is the point I intervened and extended your block. I do not take threats lightly: a person who promises to violate the wiki rules should not be allowed to edit, period. However, since you were trying to appeal my block by harassing Shambala108, she pointed you to the proper procedure for appealing blocks. Let me quote from this procedure bolding the most important points:
The only way to [appeal a block], if [the blocking admin is] preventing you from all communication on their wiki, is to go to another Fandom wiki — neutral ground as it were — and leave a message on their wall/talk page there. If they don't respond to you after one (again, one) polite and reasonable attempt at apology, you can make one last attempt.
You can then seek out a different local admin than the one who blocked you and plead your case. (Again, you'll have to contact them on a different wiki, and again you'll need to keep your cool when you do it.) Admit that you were wrong and ask the "neutral" admin to perform an internal review of the case. [...]
Having said all this, you need to be very careful about contacting people who have blocked you. Don't carry on a conversation with a person on wiki a about events on wiki b. The admin of wiki b might not like it, especially if the conversation turns ugly. You could easily end up being banned from wiki b too. Make it one note. Make it apologetic. Don't swear. Don't accuse. Just say, "I made a mistake. I apologise profusely. Is there any way you could review the block and lower it?" That's it. And remember: one attempt at communicating with a blocking admin is reasonable. Two or more attempts can be considered harrassment.
Now let us see what you did after receiving these detailed instructions at 19:59 UTC on August 18 (the log of your messages can be found at w:community:Special:Contributions/Chasenina1)
- First you contacted Shambala108, again, twice. Contacted her after she had told you that she had nothing to do with my block.
- Then you contacted another user, who is not an admin on Tardis and, hence, could not possibly help you.
- Then you sent four messages to CzechOut, another admin of Tardis, before contacting me.
- Only after that you finally contacted me. Since then you have left me eight messages within the span of barely more than two hours.
This is harassment, pure and simple. Worse still, you are harassing multiple people, including one non-admin user.
Please take note for future reference. You cannot expect people to respond to you within two hours, if only because you do not know which time zone they live in. More importantly, all admin (let alone ordinary editors) are volunteers who have lives outside of FANDOM. Getting a response within a day is lucky. But you should really aim more for a week if it is an admin and if they are active and not on vacation.
Harassing people because they do not respond to you within two hours, and on a weekend at that, is absolutely unacceptable.
To summarise, your behaviour confirms that you are not willing to follow rules and that you continuously create inconveniences for multiple other users. Worse than that, you tried to erase traces of your wrongdoing, as documented above. Thus, to protect editors of Tardis from the kind of harassment you have already subjected three of its admin to, I decline your appeal and leave the block in force.
To make things simpler for you, according to the above quoted rules, now you can appeal this decision to another, neutral admin by sending them one message and patiently waiting for their reply. This neutral admin should not be me or Shambala108. The list of active admin can be found at Tardis:Administrators. Amorkuz ☎ 23:28, August 19, 2018 (UTC)
Block appeal[[edit source]]
Hi there :)
Amorkuz originally blocked you for an indefinite period of time. So we've taken our time with this review. But it's still happening well before "the end of time itself". :)
In looking at your edits, there was — and is — legitimate concern about the way in which you edited.
One of the misunderstandings you've expressed both up-page and at Community Central is that you were blocked for failure to use British spellings, and that's not what happened. I want to make it clear that this wiki doesn't block people just because they occasionally change colour to color.
Instead, you were blocked for repeatedly refusing to follow the advice of both Shambala108 and Amorkuz.
At the root of all this is the fact that you were making edits that an application told you to make. So you were reverting proper spellings and grammatical constructions because an app told you to do it. Thing is, there were cases where taking Grammerly's advice didn't just result in a change of spelling, but also of meaning.
Even if the BrEng/AmEng divide were not an issue at all, we had a problem because you were accepting what Grammerly said was "correct". Especially troublesome was the fact that you seemed to trust Grammerly more than our admins.
Importantly, Grammerly was allowing you to edit wrongly at a very fast pace.
So you were blocked. That was absolutely the right call to have made, because your edits were compelling several members of our community to revert what you had done. While I know it's been frustrating for you, it's simply unfair to make other people have to clean up after you. We're all here to have fun, and nothing is less fun than janitorial work.
That said, this wiki has a long tradition of forgiveness and early ends to blocks. So I'd really like to give you another chance.
Before I can do that, though, I need for you to acknowledge below that you understand the following:
You will be blocked again if:
- There's evidence that you're continuing to make automatic edits, driven by an app like Grammerly. Although you were told upthread how to set it for BrEng, Grammerly is still not a great way to edit a wiki that uses a different variety of English than the one you normally speak. It'll be very difficult for you to know in every case whether Grammerly is giving you good advice. I'd strongly advise against its use entirely.
- You fail to heed new admin instructions
- You violate anything that you've already been warned about
If you're cool with all that, agree below and I'll be happy to remove your block here!
