Dr. Kendrick was a scientist in the employ of John Lumic that oversaw the creation and testing of the prototype Cyberman in 2007 in a parallel universe. Shortly thereafter, he informed Lumic that Geneva needed to be informed of its creation. Seeing Kendrick as a security hazard, Lumic gave his first Cyberman the order to murder him, which it promptly carried out. (TV: Rise of the Cybermen)
