Kabul was a city in Afghanistan occupied by the British Army and besieged by the Afghans in or around 1842, during the First Afghan War. Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton were in the city during this siege. Akbar Khan eventually arranged for the Army's surrender and the British marched out of Kabul on a fateful journey towards Jalalabad.
