The Battle of Hastings was a conflict fought between Saxon king Harold Godwinson and Norman leader William the Conqueror at Hastings, (TV: The Time Meddler) as part of the Norman Conquest of England, (TV: Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart) in 1066 (PROSE: Who's After Your Cash [+]Loading...["Who's After Your Cash (short story)"], The Constant Warrior [+]Loading...["The Constant Warrior (short story)"]) resulting in the death of Harold. The First Monk tried to prevent the Norman victory by destroying a Viking fleet off the Northumbrian coast, which would have forced Harold to march to Stamford Bridge to face them.
